BiographyHistory

Script-writer.

Alice Bell wrote the script for Suburban Mayhem (2006) at age twenty-one: the script, about a teenage girl seeking to buy lifelong independence by murdering her loving father, won an AWGIE Award (for original screenplay), and was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Literary Award (for screenwriting), an AFI Award (for original screenplay), and an IF Award (for best script).

Bell followed this with another script about a troubled teenage girl: the short film Violet (2010), whose protagonist is sent to a new school in the wake of a scandal about her and her teacher. The film was produced by the Australian Film, Television and Radio School and the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA).

Since 2008, Bell has contributed scripts to Rush (2008-2010), four-part anthology series Before the Rain (2010), Spirited (2011) (her script for which was nominated for an AWGIE), The Slap (2011), and Puberty Blues (2012).
