BiographyHistory

Michael Huddleston is an internationally recognised artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries in the Northern Territory, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory. Born in Sydney, Huddleston is from the Ngardi language group of the Roper River region of eastern Arnhem Land, Northern Territory: his parents were relocated from Groote Eylandt (off the Northern Territory coast) to Sydney after the bombing of Darwin in 1941. Huddleston's mother, Florence Croft, was originally from the Tanami Desert, and was taken from her parents as a child. Michael Huddleston returned to Darwin after his father's teaching inspired him to learn from Ngardi Elders.
