Christine Ostermann began her working life at the age of sixteen as a junior clerk in a drawing office with the electricity commission in Devon, England. She studied at night school and qualified as a draftswoman, and later moving to Australia, became a draftswoman with the Victorian Electricity Commission, the only woman among a department of eighty men.
Ostermann later worked in a number of different occupations, including flight attendant, receptionist, dance teacher and cartographer, and worked in the hospitality industry at different times in Port Pirie, Adelaide and Hobart.
In 1984 she became manager of community liaison at the Adelaide Children's Hospital, later the Women's and Children's Hospital. She was also a driving force behind the children's charity, Variety.
It was not until 1992 that she began writing romance novels. She publishes first in electronic format, and then in print, and her work has achieved particular success in the United States.
