BiographyHistory

Solomon Stedman was born in Irkutsk, Siberia and moved to Manchuria as a boy. In Australia he became a leathergoods manufacturer. He came to Australia with the wish of becoming a writer, and lived in Mosman, Sydney, where the first story he ever wrote was published in The Mosman Daily in 1925. He was a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW).

His papers and manuscripts are housed in the Australian Archives in Canberra.
