Daniel Ray Willbanks graduated from Etowah County High School in 1959 and the University of Alabama in 1963. He has taught at the University of Alabama, Memphis State University and the University of Texas (where he completed his Ph.D. in 1973). He has written on, and published interviews with, several major Australian writers.
