BiographyHistory

William A. Colman established a publishing, bookselling, stationary and bookbinding business having bought out his former employer James Tegg on the latter's retirement in 1844. Colman usually referred to his firm in advertisements as the 'successor to James Tegg' or 'late Tegg's', and he clearly retained a connection with the English publisher Thomas Tegg (James' father) - Colman imported many of Tegg's titles for colonial sale.
