1 As Luck Would Have It Drew Fairley , 2022 single work musical theatre

'As Luck Would Have It begins as a piece of stand-up comedy observing the clash between land logic and cruise ship logic, but slides into an absurdist story of life and death, as one man navigates a perilous psychological journey accompanied only by the moon, an endless ocean, and his own demons.

'On a mild day in March, a broken showman steps aboard a luxury cruise ship. For work. Just a little gig to pay the bills, maybe decompress a little, dust off his Hawaiian shirts, cuddle a few martinis, that kind of thing. The next day, a worldwide pandemic is declared. The ship is exiled into the middle of the Pacific Ocean with nothing but empty ballrooms for him to crack his jokes in. Trapped on the empty liner, he longs to escape, but the ocean has other plans…

'Commissioned by Merrigong, As Luck Would Have It is inspired by playwright and actor Drew Fairley’s experiences being marooned on a cruise ship during the early months of the pandemic. It’s the odyssey of a man drumming up mirth while he grips onto the edge of a funnel that threatens to plunge him into the abyss. With songs!'

1 3 The Unspeakable Itch Drew Fairley , Kate Smith , 2012 single work drama humour 'Matt and Bec have been married for seven years... and we all know what that means. He wants a raise. She wants her cushions fluffed. He keeps fingering his car keys. She spends hours staring into the back yard longing for a new deck. If only they hadn't started scratching The Unspeakable Itch. So what if Matt occasionally sleeps in the car and Bec has trouble remembering his name? It's just a phase. Once they get their bank loan, a timber deck and a heated infinity pool all their little grievances will disappear. But if they don't get that loan they'll do what any other normal Australian couple would do - have a nervous breakdown and sing about it.' 1 1 Ama and Chan Drew Fairley , 2011 single work drama humour 'Part stand-up, part-theatre, part live-to-internet cooking show; "Ama and Chan" is a witty and savvy look at love, fusion-cuisine and an unplanned flatmate.

'Ama is a Ghanaian woman who likes Chinese food... a little bit. Chan is her Chinese husband who isn't afraid of wigs, curves or FuFu... much.

'They're social networking celebrity chefs. Their recipes for Asian-African fusion cuisine have gone viral. The traffic on their Facebook pages often causes a worldwide meltdown.

'After a mighty wedding and slew of In-Law bickering they've finally rented a place of their own. But where is their furniture? Where is the Pork Neck and who is the guy in the spare room?

'In this less-than-fabulous situation, they conjure up a plan to buy their dream house. But first they have to get rich. And even more famous. They get a camera, fusion recipes to die for and let YouTube do the rest.

'Ama and Chan invite you to the filming of their soon-to-be-popular Reality Cooking Show.'

1 2 The Stallion of Death Drew Fairley , 2008 single work drama humour '"The Stallion of Death" is a boisterous comedy that sends up some great Aussie bush legends such as The Man from Snowy River. Set in the time when everyone loved a rollicking bush legend and when nothing quickened the pulse faster than a true story...except for perhaps an untrue story...or a lie! It's 1890 and our hero Buck is a hapless, down and out drover, and he has a past he needs to escape from. He hears that the famous magazine The Bulletin pays big money for true bush yarns and so he decides to cash in on his bush-charm and horsey knowledge. Buck invents a thrilling tale about a murderous horse; The Stallion of Death. Soon he is the talk of the town and becomes Australia's latest great bush poet. Amazingly he wins the heart of Gemima the local rich land owner's daughter. "The Stallion of Death" catapults Buck into National fame! But if the story is made up, who the hell is killing all the townsfolk?' Source: www.darlinghursttheatre.com/ (Sighted 30/09/2008).
