Notes

  • Sydney branch of the Lyceum International Association which began with the London Lyceum Club 'established in the face of masculine adversity, and sighed over by most women as a mannish venture' according to foundation member Dr. Winefred Cullis (All About Books, 8 (11) 1936: 181). The Club's structure featured a number of 'Circles'. These included the Music Circle, Dramatic Circle, Health Circle and Speaker's Circle. Members included Mary Gilmore and Dora Wilcox.
