BiographyHistory

Having been discharged from insolvency in 1855, A. W. Schuhkrafft began trading as a stationer and paper bag wholesaler by 1856, expanding into printing by 1857. In 1859 Shuhkrafft went into partnership with Henry Howell, and by the early 1860s was employing the lithographer Charles Troedel and the engraver Ludwig Lang. In 1866 Shuhkrafft became insolvent once again and the business was sold to Robert Mayston and Thomas Butterfield.
