BiographyHistory

A publisher and press proprietor, Abbott was also the original editor of the Hobart Town Advertiser. He was known to have used the Advertiser's press to produce monographs for other Hobart publishers (such as S. A. Tegg), and he certainly used it extensively in the production of pamphlets and broadside petitions publicising his personal affairs. (See Ferguson, Bibliography of Australia Vols. 2-4, and Addenda).
