BiographyHistory

Joyce Nicholson Thorpe established The Little Books Publishing House when she became impatient to publish the picture book The Little Blue Car. Ted Harris of Georgian House had agreed to publish it but Nicholson wanted to publish both this title and a companion book The Little Green Tractor together, and ventured alone. She found 'a co-operative distibutor' and the titles sold well. Two further picture books, The Aeroplane That Could Not Fly and An A.B.C of Ships and the Sea were a financial failure and the publishing venture came to an end.
