The Ross McKay Courtyard at the University of Melbourne is a memorial to this poet who attended the Melbourne Teachers' College (later to become part of the University of Melbourne) in the mid 1970s. After graduating as a primary teacher, he taught in schools in country Victoria, but died at the age of 27 from a rare disease.
