BiographyHistory

Robert Whittle served in the Mediterranean, Burma and the Pacific during World War II. After the war and while still under the age of 21 he sailed to the South Pacific. He worked as a master mariner, as a Royal Air Force navigator and, later, as an administrator with the Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Research School of Physical Sciences at the Australian National Universitry. After retirement he lived on Australia's Gold Coast.
