Robert Cox was born in Hornsby and lived in various places before settling in Singleton, New South Wales. In the late 1980s Cox undertook study towards a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at the Hunter Institute of Higher Education, Newcastle, New South Wales.
Cox has worked casually at a newspaper in the Hunter Valley and has worked on web site development.
