BiographyHistory

Nicolas Peterson is an anthropologist who has been based at the Australian National University (as Head of School at ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, and Professor of Anthropology). He has also been a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, and was awarded the Lucy Mair Medal for Applied Anthropology from the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland (1999). His bibliography of anthropological texts is extensive, as author, editor and compiler, and he has also contributed research and voice-over commentary for numerous films about and by the Warlpiri people of central Australia.
