Paul Jones' research and writing have concentrated on Asian and Australian labour, institutional and social histories, and the relationships between them. He has worked at universities in China and London. During 2000-2003 he held an Australian Research Council (ARC) Fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and at the University of Melbourne. At the latter he was appointed an Associate Fellow of the Department of History.
