BiographyHistory

Michael Campbell has been a principal dancer with the Queensland Ballet and also worked as a director and choreographer for Opera Australia, Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre Company and Bodies Dance Festival. 'Madeline Lee', a show he co-wrote and directed for Opera Australia, was nominated for seven Helpmann Awards.

From 2002 until the end of 2005 he was literary events manager at Gleebooks, Sydney. From 2006 to [2009], Campbell was director of the Brisbane Writers Festival. During his time at the festival he introduced the youth program 'Word Play' and moved the festival to the State Library of Queensland.
