BiographyHistory

Tod Schacht spent his early years in the Gympie district where his father was a timber haulage contractor. He joined Queensland Forestry as a cadet and served in the army during World War Two, as a private with the 9th Battalion (AMF), a Queensland militia unit. He served in Milne Bay and Port Moresby, before going into action on Bougainville.
