BiographyHistory

George Burchett was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, the son of an Australian father, journalist Wilfred Burchett, and a Bulgarian mother. He grew up in Moscow, Phnom Penh and Paris. Burchett studied at Lycee Janson de Sailly in Paris and at the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia. He moved to Australia in 1985. Burchett has completed numerous arts commissions in Australia and South East Asia and his work has been exhibited in various galleries. Burchett has also worked as a sub-titler with the Australian multicultural broadcaster, SBS.
