Director, script-writer, and music-video director.
John Hillcoat was born in Queensland, Australia, and raised in Ontario, Canada. He has worked extensively in both the Australian and American film industries, including repeated projects with Nick Cave and Guy Pearce.
Among his earliest works are a documentary about INXS (produced in 1985) and the futuristic prison drama Ghosts ... of the Civil Dead. More recently, he has directed The Road and Lawless.
