Artist, Victor George O'Connor painted for over 70 years and was associated with the realist movement from the late 1940s. He joined the Contemporary Art Society and shared the 1941 Contemporary Art Society prize with Donald Friend. He became friends with writers including Judah Waten and Alan Marshall (qq.v.). In partnership with Waten he started Dolphin Publications (q.v.).
O'Connor continued painting and exhibiting while working as a solicitor. He lived in Sydney, New South Wales, as well as overseas. He returned to Victoria in 1983 and continued painting until arthritis and worsening eyesight forced him to stop.
