BiographyHistory

Dr Myfany Turpin has been a Research Associate at Charles Darwin University whose research interests include Australian Aboriginal Languages, language and music, poetics, lexicography, semantics, language shift and language maintenance, language and education.

Collaborating with other linguists, Myfany Turpin has worked with Arandic and Warlpiri people documenting their traditional songs, identifying performance opportunities and ways to maintain their traditional performance arts. She worked with Kaytetye speakers, and made resources in their language. Since 2002 she has been working with the Neutral Junction school developing a language and music program, providing teacher training and producing resources such as songs, books, DVDs, posters and flashcards in collaboration with Batchelor Institute (BIITE) and MusicOutback Foundation.
