Kelvin Steinberger was a member of the Starfish's Young Writer's Club formed under the auspices of Starfish Publications, a publishing company started by Virginia King to stimulate children to write. The books were also intended as literacy aids in schools. The young authors were paid five percent of the money from their book's sales.
