Eric Kernich served in the armed forces in Papua New Guinea in World War II. He later became a pastor in the Lutheran Church and served as Superintendent of an Aboriginal community in Northern Australia as well as working in various parishes around Australia before retiring in Tanunda, SA.
Kernich studied literature at the University of Queensland.
