Dominique Wilson was born in Algiers to French parents. Her family fled civil war in Algiers and came to Australia. Wilson's short fiction has been published in anthologies, journals, and newspapers, and read on radio, and she is a prolific reviewer. She was founding co-managing editor of Wet Ink, a quarterly publication devoted to publishing new writing in Australia, until its final issue in 2012. Wilson adapted her short story 'The Dream-Catcher' for the screen and it was made into a short film. She completed her PhD at Adelaide University in 2009 with a Creative Writing thesis comprising a novel and an exegesis titled 'Peering into Cracks and Crevices: Writing Cross-cultural Historical Fiction'.
