Growing up on the family dairy farm, Patrick (Paddy) O'Brien spent his childhood in the Tweed Valley, New South Wales. His working youth was spent travelling around much of Australia as he followed seasonal employment in the cane fields. Returning to the 'Tweed', O'Brien remained in rural New South Wales and has spent his working life involved with the primary industries.
O'Brien's poetry has been inspired by his 'love of the bush' and the 'many a story' he has had 'the pleasure of hearing' in the course of his travels.
