BiographyHistory

Mattheus was a professionally qualified bookseller who also became a writer. In 1940 he was expelled from the National Socialist 'Reichsschriftumskammer', a German government body responsible for writers, and denied the right to write and publish. After World War II, Mattheus became Director of RIAS-Kinderfunks, the children's program on radio station RIAS in Berlin. Mattheus appears not to have visited Australia but used Australian settings in his novels.
