Gay Breyley gained her PhD from the University of Wollongong. She is has been the Faculty of Arts Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Music - Conservatorium at Monash University, Australia. Breyley is also editor and translator of Changing the Curtains, the Money and the Guns (Sydney, 1997), a volume of oral histories recorded in eastern Germany.
