BiographyHistory

WA-born journalist Amanda Hooton attended St Andrews University in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she studied Medieval History and English. While in the UK, she wrote for the Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh, spending two years there before moving to the Daily Telegraph in London. She returned to Australia in 1999, and began working as a staff journalist at the Good Weekend magazine, which appears with the Sydney Morning Herald and Age newspapers on Saturdays. Her published works include the humorous self-help book Finding Mr Darcy : Jane Austen's Guide to Dating for the Modern Girl (2012). She has won both a Walkley award for Australian journalism (2005), and a British Press Award.
