Australian Jeremy Little began working as a freelance sound recordist with the London Bureau of NBC News in May 2003. Mid-June he departed London to undertake an assignment in Iraq; Little and his camerman Marcus O'Brien were subsequently 'embedded' with the US Third Infantry Division at Fallujah, west of Baghdad. On the 29 June, while accompanying a routine night patrol, the military vehicle in which Little was travelling came under fire. He suffered severe wounds and was airlifted to Landstuhl Medical Centre in Germany. He died from an infection a week later. Little was twenty-seven years old.
