BiographyHistory

Marie Briggs-Koning was born in Singapore to Dutch parents and spent her early years in Makassar, Indonesia, later moving to Padang. Briggs-Koning's family was interred following the fall of Singapore. Her mother died after the cessation of hostilities, but while still imprisoned. The children re-joined their father in 1946 and subsequently migrated to Australia.
