BiographyHistory

Growing up in Burma with an Indian-born English father and a Burmese mother, Elizabeth Lawrence recalls the invasion of the Manchurian troops from the north and later her father's arrest by the Japanese during World War II. She married, and in 1967 she and her husband moved to Bangkok. In 1975 Elizabeth, her mother and her daughter emigrated to Australia, settling in Canberra.
