BiographyHistory

Arriving in Australia as a refugee at the age of seven, 'Ho Xuan Huong' tried to deny her Vietnamese background until, in her third year at the university, a Vietnamese-Australian artist helped her realise that she could embrace two cultures. Through her textile studies and her weaving she explored her identity as a Vietnamese refugee. She later revisited Vietnam, realising her identity as a Viet Kieu, an overseas Vietnamese. She came in the end to see that her 'two identities' were not as separate as she had once thought.
