Waller graduated from Sydney University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, then studied theatre design at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. He has been a Museum Educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and has taught graphic design. More recently Waller's career has focused on freelance work as a graphic designer and illustrator, drawing upon his experience in film, television, advertising and magazine and newspaper illustration.
