BiographyHistory

Luxin Liu was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Chinese language and culture and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Sociology. In 1997 he received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from La Trobe University for his study of political training techniques of China's government from 1920-1990. A native speaker of Chinese, he also gained recognition by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAAATI ) and has worked in Australia as a professional translator of Literature, Biography and Information Technology.

Liu compiled an index to the Tun Wah Times (1902-1936). Regarded as an important publication in the history of Australia's Chinese communities, this journal's high-quality editorial provided a commentary on many social and political affairs which reflected the views of Chinese communities in Australia. In July 2000 Liu presented a paper on this subject at the 'Chinese Heritage of Australian Federation' conference which was sponsored by La Trobe University, Shanghai East China Normal University and the Chinese Museum of Melbourne.

Liu has also reviewed scholarly publications on contemporary Chinese politics and culture.
