BiographyHistory

Having gained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and a Bachelor of Education degree, Jim Thomev taught English and modern languages at high schools for 12 years. In 1987, at its foundation, he became editor-in-chief of the Australian Macedonian Weekly, for which he has written also. Although he did not received any formal education in his first language, he has written in Macedonian and translated from English into Macedonian. Thomev's work has been performed in Macedonian. An activist in the Macedonian community for the cause of human rights, he prepared a literary program, 'Macedonia Speaks', for Radio 3CR. He read at the Macedonian Cultural Week in Adelaide in 1986.
