BiographyHistory

South African-born Elaine Potter relocated to England, where she wrote for the Sunday Times Insight Team. She co-authored several Sunday Times books, including Destination Disaster : From the TriMotor to the DC10 (1976) and Suffer the Children : The Story of Thalidomide (1979). She also wrote The Press As Opposition : The Political Role of South African Newspapers (1975) and edited A Jump For Life : A Survivor's Journal from Nazi-occupied Poland (1997). Her other activites have included being a trustee of the Canon Collins Education Trust for Southern Africa, and trustee of CIDA, a free university in Johannesburg. She was also co-founder of the David & Elaine Potter Charitable Foundation.
