BiographyHistory

English novelist Susan Elderkin studied English at Downing College, Cambridge and completed her master's degree in creative writing at the University of East Anglia (studying under Malcolm Bradbury). Elderkin won a Windgate scholarship to research her first novel, Sunset Over Chocolate Mountains, set in Arizona, USA. Her second novel, The Voices, was set in Western Australia. Elderkin spent two months in Australia in 1999-2000 visiting towns and cattle stations in the Kimberley region.

In 2003, Elderkin was named one of Granta's Best Young British Novelists.
