BiographyHistory

Kosti Simons has published and had his work performed in English. Having written for more than 20 years, he received some experience in theatre through involvement with the New South Wales Division of the Arts Council of Australia. His first one-act play won a playwright's competition and several other three-act plays were given professional readings in Sydney, including Cage with Flies (Independent Theatre, 1968: not yet traced).

After living in Europe for some years, Simons returned to Australia in 1990 and established the 'Moogerah Passion Play' at Lake Moogerah in south-east Queensland, an outdoor performance organised every Easter. The passion play has run since 1993.

In addition to works listed on AustLit, Simons' website also notes a number of plays that, as of January 2019, have not been produced, including Queue! (1996), The Voyage of the Golden Olympic (1998), and Was Lefty Right? (2000).
