BiographyHistory

Born Alice Hastings Bradley in 1915, was briefly Alice Davey, wrote SF as James Tiptree, Jr. and Raccoona Sheldon, and died as Alice B. Sheldon in 1987. The James Tiptree Jr. Memorial Award is named in her honour.

Tiptree's novella Houston, Houston, Do You Read? (1976: winner of the 1976 Nebula Award [novella] and the 1977 Hugo Award [novella]) includes an all-female, post-catalcysm society centred largely on Australasia.
