1 The Granite Tablet from Merri Merri Creek Norma Martin , 1979 single work column
— Appears in: Margin , no. 3 1979; (p. 1-3)

In 1975 a 400 lb block of granite was discovered in the Merri Merri Creek in East Brunswick with an inscription which read:
'To Victoria from one of her earliest colonists in pleasant memories 1840-88.'
This was traced back to William Westgarth. In his book Half a Century of Australasian Progress : A Personal Retrospect he revealed that he arranged for an Aberdeenshire granite fountain, bearing the same inscription, to be sent out as a present to Victoria.
