BiographyHistory

Edna Hewson's parents moved to Australia from the United Kingdom in 1910 to take up land in the Katanning district of Western Australia. Hewson was the fifth daughter born into this devout Methodist family. She left school at the age of fourteen to assist with the running of the family farm. She also gained Home Missions credentials in the Methodist Church, taught Sunday School and sang in various choirs.

Hewson met her husband during World War II and they married just prior to the end of the war. They had two sons and a daughter.

In the mid-1990s, Hewson undertook a TAFE course in creative writing. Her poetry writing grew from that experience.
