Lloyd-Diviny was raised in Nairobi where she developed her deep love of nature and wildlife, briefly lived in the United Kingdom and then relocated with her family to Sydney. She studied art at Randwick College of TAFE and graduated in 1990 with the Best Student Folio award. Lloyd-Diviny initially worked as a graphic designer then began freelance work as an illustrator for Australian Geographic magazine, after which she began illustrating children's picture books.
