BiographyHistory

Wilkins came to Australia to take up the position of headmaster at the Fort Street School in Sydney. (His wife was to have been headmistress, but she died in childbirth during the voyage to Australia.) Wilkins had an eminent career in education in New South Wales, holding several top government positions, and he fostered the develop of teacher training.
