BiographyHistory

John Williams is a Sydney based photographer and historian. He was foundation head of the Department of Photography and Audio-Visual Studies at Sydney College of the Arts before gaining a PhD in Australian History from Macquarie University.

In addition to the works listed here, Williams has written The Quarantined Culture: Australian Reactions to Modernism 1913-1939 (1995), Anzacs, the Media and the Great War (1999) and Modernity, the Media and the Military: The Creation of National Mythologies on the Western Front 1914-1918 (2009).
