BiographyHistory

A widely experienced actor and playwright, Donald Macdonald established a 'successful and varied theatrical career' both in Australia and overseas. The writer of the popular play Caravan (1984), Macdonald has also published a novel, Travels with a Wise Man (1995), and written for film.

First performed in 1983 by the Ensemble Theatre Company (Sydney), Caravan has been described as one of Australia's 'most successful local comedies'. The play was produced throughout Australia, has been performed in New Zealand, and in 1991 toured provincial centres in the UK.
