BiographyHistory

Owen Brady's father was Yankantjarra of the Amata/Ernabella people and his mother Adnyamathanha of the Nepabunna people. His family were agricultural workers and spoke mainly Adnyamathanha. Brady was influenced by his mother's tribal group. He attended school at Nepabunna and Copley (Leigh Creek). He left school in the early 1970s and worked for Australian National Railways before joining the public service.
