An Australian born in New Zealand, Pamela Stephenson became famous after her departure from Australia when her career as a comedienne developed. She is particularly remembered for her starring role in the BBC series, Not the Nine O'Clock News. (It was on this show that she met her future husband, Billy Connolly.) Following her television career, Stephenson pursued academic study, culminating with her PhD on the effects of fame.
