BiographyHistory

Fig Tree Theatre occupies a 1940s tin building in the grounds of the University of New South Wales' Kensington campus. The building was first used for theatre in 1963, being the birthplace of the Old Tote, and was later home to both Sydney Theatre Company and the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). After NIDAs departure, the tin shed became known as the Fig Tree Theatre.
