BiographyHistory

Janus Korczak was a Jewish paediatrician who established orphanages in Poland during the 1920s. During World War II he cared for children, and orphans in particular, in the Warsaw getto. After the war the United Nations established the International Year of the Child in honour of his work and commitment.
